Ceremonies

Inverlochy Castle holds a license as a wedding venue which means that we can conduct all types of marriage ceremonies: civil, religious, or humanist, depending on your personal preference.

Our civil marriage license allows registrars to marry you in the Castle in designated rooms. The civil ceremony lasts around 15 minutes, and you need to apply directly to the registrar’s office if this is your desired type of ceremony. If you want a religious ceremony, we are more than happy to accommodate and can even book a minister from the Church of Scotland for you. Finally, if a humanist ceremony is the wish of you and your partner, we can also conduct this at our Castle wedding venue!

There are three categories of Marriage in Scotland: civil, religious and humanist, all of which can be conducted at the hotel. Inverlochy Castle Hotel has a civil marriage license, which allows registrars to marry you in the hotel in designated rooms. The civil ceremony takes around 15 minutes. You must apply to the registrar’s office directly if you wish a civil ceremony. A religious ceremony is also available conducted by a minister from the Church of Scotland and we can book the minister. Finally a humanist ceremony can also be conducted at the hotel.  A civil partnership ceremony can also take place at Inverlochy Castle. Again you must contact the registrar’s office directly.

For all types of ceremony, you must complete the legal preliminaries by lodging notice with the Fort William registrar, whom you are advised to contact in the first instance on 01397 704583.

An outdoor ceremony is permitted at Inverlochy Castle however, this is weather dependent and marquees are not permitted.  The Great Hall which can accommodate 80 guests or The Drawing Room which can accommodate 60 guests in the Castle are both ideal locations to hold your service.

There is a £1,000.00 fee for Wedding ceremony which is not an Exclusive Use Hire.

The fee for the hire of the Drawing Room for your ceremony is £350.00 if your numbers are 20 guests or under. The Drawing Room hire is between 12noon – 3pm.

We are able to recommend a photographer and florist, we can also arrange musicians including a traditional Scottish Piper. A dance floor is also available for Exclusive Use weddings for an additional £275.00. Should you require any of these services, we are happy to arrange this for you.
